My name is Debbie Lander. I was born and raised in Bryan, Texas. This is my 15th year of teaching! I have taught either 3rd or 4th grade during my teaching career. I taught 12 years in Bryan, 1 year for Arrow Academy Charter School in Bryan, and 1 year for Snook Elementary. I am glad to find my way to College Hills Elementary! Teaching is a 2nd career for me. I graduated from Texas A&M University in 1987 with a BBA in Finance. I worked for the Texas A&M University Fiscal Department for 7 years and for the Texas Engineering Extension Service for 8 years.
I have a beautiful family.. My husband Bill, graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Manufacturing Engineering. He works for the TAMUS for the Facilities and Planning department as a Building Inspector - all areas. My oldest daughter, Allison is a 2013 graduate from Texas A&M University with a BBA in Marketing. She works as a Producer for the Friday Night High School football games, at KBTX. My youngest daughter, Amanda, is a student at Stephen F. Austin State University. She will be graduating next year in Music Education. Her goal is to be a high school choir director. And I cannot leave our sweet dog, Lulu, out of the picture.. She's the diva of the family... Lulu means, "I Love You"... (When Amanda was a baby, the way she said, "I love you", was "lulu"... and that carried over to our dog's name ;)
In my free time, I enjoy watching shows on the Food Network and experimenting in the kitchen by trying out new dishes. I also enjoy watching Aggie Sports! Whoop!
I come from a tight-knit family. My parents, sister's family, and brother's family, all live in the BCS area. We gather each Sunday for lunch at my Mom and Dad's house and spend the afternoon together. We treasure these times!
I am excited to be at College Hills Elementary and am looking forward to serving as your child's 3rd grade teacher this year!
